All the Rave Green, all the chants, all the goals, all the Oba flips, they are in your immediate future. Are you excited yet? Well, of course you are. Let’s get you even more pumped up for Sunday’s curtain against the New England Revolution with seven reasons (for seven seasons…get it?) why the 2015 season is going to rock.
Here goes.
- CenturyLink Field - Is there a louder, more awesome atmosphere in MLS than a packed house at CenturyLink Field for a Sounders match? The answer to that is no. Few stadiums in sports bring the same kind of noise that CenturyLink does, and that’s bee proven scientifically. With the trapping of the sound and the Sounders increasing the capacity this season, it’s surely going to be a fortress again in 2015.
- Clint & Oba, Oba & Clint - Outside of Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins were the deadliest duo in Major League Soccer in 2014 as they combined for 32 goals and 23 assists on the year. Not a bad haul. The pair are fully in sync to start their second full season together and you can be sure there will be special moments again this year.
- And We March - Does anything get you going for a Sounders match more than the March to the Match from Occidental Square? I know that I never miss one because seeing that passion never ceases to amaze me. If you haven’t made it out to one yet, you’ll have 17 opportunities to do so this regular season.
- MLS is 20 - Yep, our league turns 20 this season and after some lean times things have certainly stabilized. With the continued addition of successful expansion clubs like Sounders FC, Toronto FC, and most recently Orlando City and NYCFC, things continue to get better for America’s top flight.
- The West Is Best - Your Supporters’ Shield-winning Sounders will have their work cut out for them in 2015 as a bit of realignment has Sporting KC and the Houston Dynamo join the Western Conference. In other words, lots of competition out in this part of the world. It also means your boys in green will have three opportunities to beat KC in extra time, which is nice.
- Looking Good, SFC - No team in MLS has the wow-factor to their kits/color scheme that the Sounders have. That Rave Green really POPS and the club has built on that identity over the years. In 2015, along with the primary green kits and the fan favorite Pitch Black third kits, the Olympic White secondaries were introduced and they are gorgeous.
- You, The Supporters - You guys are amazing. Like really amazing. The lifeblood of the Sounders FC, the supporters continually impress both in Seattle and nationwide with the unwavering support provided for every match, both home and away. Don’t ever change.
The season starts at 6:30pm PT with the Revolution being the Sounders first opponent of the year. Tune in to FOX Sports 1 or follow along with @LIVESounders on Twitter if you aren’t already going to be at the match.
