PREVIOUS MEETING: Sporting KC defeated the Sounders 2-1 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City on June 8. Jordan Morris and Johnny Russell traded first-half goals before Reed Baker-Whiting was sent off in the 73rd minute and forced the Sounders down to 10 men. Alenis Vargas scored the match-winner in the 85thminute.
RUNNING RIOT: The Sounders enter the weekend fresh off a 4-0 rout over 10-man Columbus Crew SC. Albert Rusnák scored his first professional hat trick en route to being named the MLS Player of the Matchday.
MASSIVE HOMESTAND: Seattle has four of its final six MLS matches at Lumen Field to end the regular season, including three straight beginning with this Sunday’s contest. After SKC, the Sounders will welcome the San Jose Earthquakes and Houston Dynamo to close out September.
