DOWNWARD TRAJECTORY: It’s been the opposite for San Diego, which started the season 3-0-0 in all competitions but has failed to win in its last nine matches (0-6-3). San Diego had a late 2-0 lead on LAFC last weekend before conceding in the 82nd minute and the 14th minute of stoppage time to split the points.
NO CHUCKY: Despite still being on the roster and making $6M as one of Major League Soccer’s highest-earning players, San Diego FC Sporting Director Tyler Heaps has stated that Mexican international Hirving “Chucky” Lozano was not going to be a part of the club’s plans this year. The 30-year-old Designated Player and former Napoli star recorded nine goals and 10 assists in San Diego’s inaugural season last year.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Anders Dreyer, M
The Danish international burst onto the MLS scene last season, recording 19 goals and 19 assists en route to being named the MLS Newcomer of the Year. Even without running mate Lozano in attack in 2026, he has five goals and six assists in 11 matches.
