The Seattle Sounders are hosting the New York Red Bulls on Saturday in their first meeting this season. Here is everything you need to know:

WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. PT at Lumen Field (TICKETS).

WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

2023 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 7-5-2 (23 points, 2nd West), New York: 3-4-7 (16 points, 11th East)

FORM GUIDE: Seattle: LLWLL, New York: WDWWL

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders defeated the New York Red Bulls 4-2 in Seattle on Sept. 19, 2019. A Jordan Morris goal early in the first half, along with a brace from Nicolás Lodeiro, and an own goal from the New York side, resulted in a resounding home victory for the Rave Green.

REGAINING MOMENTUM: Seattle enters Saturday looking to regain the momentum they established earlier in the season. Having lost their last two matches at home, the team is eager to re-establish Lumen Field as a formidable venue for visiting teams.

MONTERO MACHINE: Fredy Montero recorded a brace and an assist in Sounders FC’s 3-0 victory against the New York Red Bulls in the team’s inaugural MLS match back on March 19, 2009. He was a key contributor then and continues to make an impact 12 years later, as he’s remained a vital asset to the Rave Green’s offense.

HOMEGROWN PLAYER DEPTH: With injuries lingering on the First Team, the Sounders have utilized several Homegrown players as substitutes and starters over the last few games. Josh Atencio and Dylan Teves are among the squad of younger players serving in integral roles, along with recently signed defender Cody Baker, who has already made two starts with the First Team.

A WEEK OF REST: After a marathon stretch of five games over the course of 14 days, the Rave Green will have the opportunity to take a week-long breather and regroup before taking on New York this Saturday at Lumen Field. The Red Bulls will have less recovery time as the team will be competing in the Round of 16 of Open Cup on Tuesday night.

EVENLY MATCHED: It’s a toss-up whenever the Sounders and the Red Bulls go head-to-head. The two teams’ past results are evenly matched, as Seattle holds a 6-5-3 record in the regular season against their New York counterparts dating back to 2009.

ANDRÉS REYES IMPRESSES: The Red Bulls defender continues to stand out among the rest after being named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for the second time this season. His goal in the team’s last matchup against CF Montreal solidified the win for the New York squad.

HOT STREAK: Despite Red Bull’s low placement in the standings, the team is on the rise with a four-game unbeaten run under their belts heading into Saturday’s matchup against the Rave Green.
