Sounders FC & OL Reign Doubleheader
Two rivalry matches against Portland, one ticket. You won't want to miss the biggest PNW soccer event of the year on Saturday, June 3!
UTILIZING THE POSITIVES: While the Sounders recent match against the San Jose Earthquakes left the team without a win, the team carved out a host of high-quality chances throughout the match. It was an unlucky night for the Sounders as they finished the match having 62.7% of the possession, with 23 (3.0 xG) shots versus San Jose’s 9 (1.1 xG).
CRISTIAN ROLDAN AVAILABILITY: After suffering a concussion in April, midfielder Cristian Roldan is making his way back to the pitch as Head Coach Brian Schmetzer mentioned it is likely he’ll be available for this Saturday’s match against the Timbers. However, his brother Alex will have to sit out this weekend due to yellow card accumulation.
LAST HOMESTAND MATCH: Saturday marks the end of three-game homestand for the Sounders. The Rave Green currently have one win and one loss in the stretch of home matches and are looking to add another victory this weekend. It’ll be a quick turnaround as the Sounders will only have a few days to recover whereas the Timbers are coming off a week of rest.
THREE GAME WINNING STREAK: Although Portland currently sits beneath the Sounders in the Western Conference standings, the Timbers have had a recent history of success when it comes to playing the Rave Green. The Timbers have won the last three head-to-head battles against the Sounders.
BOUNCE BACK: The Timbers are winless over their last three MLS Regular Season matches (1D, 2L). The Portland squad has only scored one goal since May 17, which was tallied by forward Frank Boli in the team’s most recent 4-1 loss against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.
