FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): Seattle: LLDLL, Houston: WLDLL
PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders came away with a 1-0 win in Houston on May 18 behind a 28th minute goal from Raúl Ruidíaz. The Dynamo’s Coco Carrasquilla was sent off in the 54th minute before Seattle’s Alex Roldan saw red as well in the 82nd minute.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Sounders return to Seattle following a three-match road trip. They are unbeaten against the Dynamo at Lumen Field in 13 all-time meetings (10-0-3) including the playoffs. For Houston, it’s the second-most road matches without a win against a single opponent in MLS history behind only the San Jose Earthquakes’ 16 trips to the Portland Timbers.
TOUGH RUN: On their three-match road trip, the Sounders conceded four penalties, including an equalizing stoppage-time PK at the LA Galaxy. Stefan Frei made a great save on the first of two called against them in Orlando midweek.
RUSNÁK FINDING FORM: After scoring just once in MLS play through the first 24 matches of the season, Sounders deep-lying midfielder Albert Rusnák has scored twice in the last four games. The second came on a beautiful free kick that opened the scoring in Orlando.
TICKETS FOR HOUSTON DYNAMO
Come watch Seattle Sounders FC as we host the Houston Dynamo at Lumen Field on Sunday, September 4!
HOUSTON SNAPS THE SKID: The Dynamo entered their midweek home match against LAFC on a six-match winless run (0-5-1). They snapped that streak in impressive fashion, defeating the Supporters’ Shield-leaders 2-1.
CERÉN SUSPENDED: Houston will be without midfielder Darwin Cerén on Sunday, as the Salvadoran midfielder was sent off against LAFC in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
HERRERA SIGHTING?: The Dynamo may not have the services of star acquisition Héctor Herrera, who has missed the last two matches with a right leg injury. The Mexican international legend joined from La Liga’s Atlético Madrid this summer and has one assist in 620 minutes of action.
