DEFEND THE RIGHT TO PLAY
Sounders FC takes on the Colorado Rapids in a Western Conference battle. Join the RAVE Foundation as we defend the right for ALL to play by building 26 free playfields by 2026 and inspire programs for our region's youth.
PREVIOUS MEETING: The Rapids defeated the Sounders 1-0 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., on May 22 behind a 50th-minute goal from Jonathan Lewis.
SOCCER FOR ALL: Saturday marks the club's Defend the Right to Play match, celebrating RAVE Foundation's mission of doing work in the community to remove barriers to play by providing access to youth in Washington State who are furthest from play equity. There will be programming around the match raising awareness for RAVE's 26 by 2026 initiative, which aims to build 26 fields for free play throughout the state in time for FIFA World Cup 2026. You can learn more HERE.
TOUGH STRETCH: The Sounders are trying to bounce back after dropping three straight matches. Seattle has also gone scoreless in three consecutive games for the first time since 2018.
FREI BACK: Goalkeeper Stefan Frei will likely be available on Saturday after missing each of the last two matches because of Health and Safety Protocols. His backup, Stefan Cleveland, fared well in his absence, allowing just two total goals while making some spectacular saves.
MR. 300: Will Bruin on Saturday earned his 300th career MLS appearance. The 12-year veteran out of Indiana University is ninth among active players on the all-time MLS goals list with 76.
DIEGO DIALED IN: Forward Diego Rubio leads the Rapids with nine goals and three assists on the season. No other Colorado player has scored more than three times.
SNAPPING THE SKID: Colorado is coming off a win over the LA Galaxy last weekend, which broke a six-match winless run (0-3-3).
WINLESS ON THE ROAD: The Rapids are one of just two MLS teams without a road win this season (Toronto FC), as Colorado has taken just three points from nine matches away from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (0-6-3).
