The fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is Set and the Seattle Sounders will play PDL side Kitsap Pumas on June 15 at Starfire Sports.
Pumas defeated USL side Sacramento Republic SC at Bonney Field in a wild match on Wednesday night to earn their passage into the next round and meet the Sounders. Pumas scored three goals in just four minutes against a Republic side that has only conceded four goals in nine matches in USL play this season.
The club is no stranger to the Sounders organization as they faced off against the Sounders' USL side Seattle Sounders FC 2 last year in USOC play. S2 triumphed in thrilling fashion in that affair with a 4-2 extra time victory. Pumas also compete with the Sounders U-23s in PDL and have clashed once already this season. The U-23s fell 1-0 to Pumas away at Kitsap’s Gordon Field on Saturday.
The Pumas are just one of two fourth division teams still remaining in the Open Cup tournament; the LA Galaxy will face the remaining team, La Máquina FC, in the fourth round.
The Sounders and Pumas face off on June 15 at Starfire Stadium and limited tickets are available (7:30 p.m. PT; SoundersFC.com).
