With Give BIG just around the corner on May 3, the Seattle Sounders have launched Impact Seattle, a collection of events that focus on supporting the greater Seattle community. Here's a sampling of the upcoming events this week and links to donate or register:
Friday, April 22: The Sounders will participate in the first MLS WORKS Greener Goals Week of Service. This League-wide initiative includes all twenty MLS teams and aims to support and create sustainable communities in each market. On Earth Day, Sounders FC will again team up with Washington Green Schools for Earth Day and an afternoon of sustainability-focused service at B.F. Day Elementary. Washington Green Schools provides a system of support for school communities to set and achieve sustainability goals. Schedule a GiveBig donation to Washington Green Schools here.
Friday, April 22: This year, Sounders midfielder, Erik Friberg joins captain Brad Evans, and Sounders Director of Community Outreach Roger Levesque for the Ronald McDonald House Charities annual Men in Kilts fundraiser. The Seattle Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home for approximately 450 families each year while their seriously ill child receives medical treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Schedule a GiveBig donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities here.
Saturday, April 23: Building on last year’s joint career development events, Sounders staff members will join representatives from Microsoft, PWC, Starbucks and more to participate in YouthForce University’s Teen Employment Conference. YouthForce is the youth professional development program at Boys & Girls Clubs of King County dedicated to helping young people explore opportunities and develop skills that lead to success in the workplace and beyond. Schedule a GiveBig donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of King County here.
Saturday, April 23: The Sounders will host Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) for an interactive workshop in The Ninety to engage Seattle stakeholders – community, corporate and sports – prior to opening a Seattle PCA chapter this summer. PCA is a national nonprofit whose mission is to improve the culture of youth sports so that all kids have a positive, character building experience.
