The Seattle Sounders jumped up to No. 4 in the latest Major League Soccer Power Rankings following their 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. Entering the weekend, Seattle sat sixth in Major League Soccer’s weekly rankings, but the win over RBNY saw the team leapfrog Atlanta United and the San Jose Earthquakes.
The win was the team’s third in its last four outings, putting them in second in the Western Conference, one point clear of Minnesota in third. If the Sounders manage to finish the campaign in one of the top four spots in the West, they’ll secure a home match in the 2019 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
Facing a quick turnaround, the Sounders will host FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM |TICKETS) before heading to the nation’s capital for an away match against D.C. United on Sunday (5:00 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
