SEATTLE, Wash. - The Seattle Sounders new superstar midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro has been called up to the Uruguayan national team to represent his country in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in early September.
Lodeiro is on the 23-man Uruguayan roster released on Monday alongside the likes of Luis Suárez and Edinson Cavani. The team begins training on August 29 in Montevideo to prepare for matches against Argentina on Sept. 1 and Paraguay on Sept. 6.
In his brief debut so far with the Sounders, Lodeiro has been exceptional tallying one goal, three assists and receiving MLS Team of the Week nods for all three of his performances.
