Sweden announced on Wednesday that Seattle Sounders midfielder Gustav Svensson will start for the Blågult in a friendly against Austria on Thursday (11:45 a.m. PT) at Generali Arena in Vienna.
Svensson made his last international appearance in a 1-0 win over Switzerland in the Round of 16 match at this past summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia. He started and went all 90 minutes as the Swedes advanced to the quarterfinals.
After Thursday’s match in Austria, Sweden returns home to host Turkey on Sept. 10 in an UEFA Nations League match.
