Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan started and played 84 minutes minutes on Tuesday for the United States in a 1-1 friendly draw with Chile at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas. Sounders forward Jordan Morris entered for Gyasi Zardes in the 79th minute.
Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the fourth minute to give the U.S. the early lead before Ă“scar Opazo equalized for Chile five minutes later.
Roldan earned his ninth cap and second in the last two U.S. matches, as he came on as a substitute in last Thursday’s 1-0 win over Ecuador. Morris earned his 27th cap on Tuesday. Seattle native and former Sounders defender DeAndre Yedlin captained the team for the first time. The U.S. remains unbeaten in four matches (3-0-1) under new Head Coach Gregg Berhalter.
The Sounders return to MLS action on Saturday, March 30, at the Vancouver Whitecaps (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
