Lodeiro joined the Montevideo-based side at 14 before debuting with the First Team at 18. He scored nine goals in 49 appearances in all competitions in three seasons and helped lead Nacional to the semifinals of the 2009 Copa Libertadores. He also won the 2008-09 Primera División.
Nacional was founded in 1899 and has won Uruguay’s top division 46 times, with the most recent coming in 2016, as well as three Copa Libertadores. They finished runners-up to Peñarol last season.
Nacional will be the 13th international friendly the Sounders will have played at CenturyLink Field and 12th different opponent. The Sounders previously hosted England’s Chelsea (twice), Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United; Spain’s FC Barcelona; Scotland’s Celtic; Argentina’s Boca Juniors; Mexico’s Chivas, Tijuana and Necaxa; and Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt. The Sounders are 3-5-4 in those matches.
