Following their 4-1 Decision Day win over the San Jose Earthquakes, the Seattle Sounders will host LAFC in Round One of the 2020 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs on November 24 at 7:30 p.m. PT (ESPN) following the international break.
The Sounders finished second in the Western Conference for the fourth consecutive year and will face an LAFC side that gave up a late equalizer to the Portland Timbers on Decision Day to drop to the seventh seed.
The postseason match will be the fifth time in all competitions that Seattle and LAFC have met this year. After a 4-1 loss in the knockout stage of the MLS is Back tournament, the Sounders defeated LAFC 3-1 and 3-0 in the next two matches, each at CenturyLink Field. Seattle fell 3-1 at Banc of California Stadium in their most recent matchup on Oct. 11.
The Sounders’ clash with LAFC will also be the second straight year these two teams meet in the postseason. Seattle went to Los Angeles in last year’s Western Conference Championship and defeated the Supporters’ Shield winners 3-1 to head back to MLS Cup, where the Sounders went on to win their second title in four years.
The Sounders are spearheaded by Nicolás Lodeiro (7 G, 10 A), Raúl Ruidíaz (12 G, 4 A) and Jordan Morris (10 G, 8 A). LAFC sports the 2020 Golden Boot winner in Diego Rossi (14 G, 4 A) and last season’s Landon Donovan MVP Carlos Vela, who returned from injury on Sunday and scored in what was just his sixth match of the season.
