Seattle Sounders forward Raúl Ruidíaz started and played 45 minutes on Thursday in Peru’s 2-0 friendly loss to Ecuador in Lima.
Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia opened the scoring for Ecuador in the 47th minute before Tigres forward Enner Valencia doubled the lead in the 74th minute.
Ruidíaz earned his 35th cap for La Blanquirroja in his third straight call-up since the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Ruidíaz nearly gave Peru a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute, but his headed goal was waved offside. He has four career goals for Peru.
Peru hosts Costa Rica in another friendly on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 4:30 p.m. PT at Estadio de la Universidad Nacional San Agustín in Arequipa.
