TUKWILA, Wash. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 have two matches left to complete their run into the USL playoffs after earning yet another dramatic result away in Oklahoma City, but the road won't be easy.
First up is a Saturday night clash against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, one of the powerhouses of the Western Conference. Head coach Steve Trittschuh’s side has already booked its trip to the playoffs but will still have plenty to play for as they could lock up two home playoff matches and give themselves a shot at first place with a victory against S2 on Saturday (6 p.m. PT, live stream on SoundersFC.com).
Despite the Switchbacks' impressive 2016 season, S2 have been a thorn in their side, claiming victory in both previous matchups at Starfire Stadium this year. S2, however, must now do it on the road for the first team this year and with a big crowd expected, S2 will have their work cut out for them.
A win on Saturday will be a big boost to S2’s claim in the USL playoffs but even some results may not secure a spot in the tightly contested Western Conference. There are three other teams battling tooth and nail for the last spot, and S2’s fate will certainly be affected by how those teams close out their season.
