As Sounders FC’s preseason winds down ahead of Saturday’s season-opening contest at the Houston Dynamo (5:30 p.m. PT | Matchcenter), another preseason stint at Starfire Sports Complex is just beginning.
On Wednesday, S2 broke camp with its first training session ahead of its third USL campaign. The group included a few familiar faces, such as returning players Lorenzo Ramos and Irvin Parra, plus a contingent of the club’s selections at the 2017 MLS SuperDraft in January.
Also of note, four players from the offseason’s open tryouts, which were held at Starfire and in North Carolina, began the preseason as trialists: forward Alcides Thomas, defender Eyosiyas Atsemegiyorgis, and goalkeepers Hector Gutierrez and Jordan Hadden.
Ahead of the season-opener against Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday, March 26, at Starfire Stadium (2:00 p.m. PT; SoundersFC.com), S2 will compete in three preseason matches. The Rave Green play at Seattle University on March 5 at 4 p.m., followed by a fixture against the University of Portland on March 12 at 7 p.m. at Starfire Stadium. Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson’s club wraps up the scrimmage slate on March 18 against Oregon State at 1:00 p.m. at Starfire Stadium.
