The Seattle Sounders FC Academy U16 team will compete in the finals of the Youdan Trophy tournament on Friday in Sheffield, England, against Swiss powerhouse FC Basel.
Kickoff is slated for 6 a.m. PT. Although the game will not be streamed live, fans can watch a replay of Friday’s championship game here.
The Youdan Trophy is a tournament designed to “celebrate football’s heritage through the stars of the future,” and consists of teams from elite clubs such as Celtic FC, Rosenborg and Queens Park Rangers.
The Sounders were put in a group with youth sides from Newcastle United, Charlton Athletic and FAB Academy. Newcastle posed a particularly large challenge, as this same team won the Neuville Sur Saone Tournoi in France in 2015.
The young Sounders first toppled FAB Academy 3-0 courtesy of second-half goals from striker Azriel Gonzalez, midfielders Gabe Threadgold and Joe-Joe Richardson en route to a 3-0 win.
The Rave Green then followed up with a 4-1 win over Newcastle on the back of four goals in the second half, and the wrapped up group stage play with a hotly contested 3-3 draw against Charlton Athletic that gave them the group with seven points and and a plus-six goal differential.
The young Sounders then faced off against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first semifinal, earning a 3-1 win while Basel topped the youth side from Scottish champions Celtic FC.
