MAF05166

The Seattle Sounders are one step closer in their relentless quest for a third MLS Cup title.

Following a 2-1 victory over LAFC at BMO Stadium on Saturday night, the Sounders have booked a spot in the Western Conference Final.

LAFC took the lead shortly after halftime through Ryan Hollingshead, but Seattle managed to equalize nine minutes later courtesy of a Maxime Chanot own goal. With the score level at the end of regulation, the match went into extra time. Jordan Morris scored the game-winning goal in the 109th minute to send the Sounders through to the next round.

The Sounders will face the winner of the other semifinal match between the LA Galaxy and Minnesota United on Sunday, Nov. 24. Should the Galaxy win, the Sounders will travel to Dignity Health Sports Park. If Minnesota advances, Seattle would host the Western Conference Final at Lumen Field.

The date and time of the Western Conference Final will be announced by Major League Soccer in the coming days.

This marks the seventh time since 2009 that the Sounders have reached this stage of the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. In each of the club's four previous trips to the Western Conference Final, Seattle has gone on to reach MLS Cup.
