FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): Seattle: DLWWW, San Diego: DDLDD
PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders and San Diego FC played to a thrilling 1-1 draw at Lumen Field back on May 9. The visitors took an early lead when Marcus Ingvartsen slipped behind Seattle’s back line and slotted his shot into the side netting. After carving out a host of high-quality chances, the Sounders finally equalized in the 80th minute when Cristian Roldan redirected an Albert RusnĂ¡k corner kick for Danny Musovski to sweep home inside the six-yard box.
TALE OF TWO HALVES: Seattle stumbled out of the gates against Montreal as they conceded an early goal and struggled to maintain possession. A reinvigorated side established control after the halftime break, finding an equalizer through Sebastian Gomez and generated enough chances to find a late winner before ultimately settling for a point.
GEARING UP FOR POSTSEASON: With only four matches remaining in the regular season, the Sounders currently sit 7th in the West – just four points back with a game in-hand over LAFC who occupy 6th. With key players like Jordan Morris, Yeimar, Cristian Roldan, JesĂºs Ferreira and Paul Arriola rounding into form after lengthy injury layoffs, the team is well positioned to make a late push up the standings.
SURGING SEBA: 19-year-old winger Sebastian Gomez continues to turn plenty of heads in his debut season with the First Team. Gomez, who inked a Homegrown Player contract in the offseason, scored the equalizer as a second half substitute against Montreal. The Sounders Academy alum now has three goals and four assists in just under 1,000 minutes across all competitions this year.
DANGEROUS DREYER: Fresh off an MLS MVP finalist campaign in 2025, Dreyer has continued to put up massive numbers this year, with 13 goals and 13 assists from regular season play.
END-TO-END ACTION: Fans can expect plenty of goals on Saturday night. San Diego enters the match with one of the most prolific attacks in the league, tallying 53 goals through 30 matches (fourth-most in the West). At the other and of the pitch, they’ve conceded 56 times (third highest in the West).
PLAYER TO WATCH: Manu Duah, D
A second-year pro with San Diego, Duah has emerged as one of the top young center backs in North America. The dominant defender was recently named to Major League Soccer’s 22 Under 22 list as the ninth-best prospect in the league. Duah is elite at progressing the ball out of the back. Combine his skill in possession with his blistering recovery speed, Saturday night’s matchup with Dejan Joveljić promises plenty of action.
