If there’s one thing Sounders FC 2 fans can count on, it’s that every time their boys in Rave Green come home to play on the hallowed ground of Starfire Stadium, they will fight tooth and nail to get the win.
With nine wins at home already, it’s almost something fans can guarantee, but for one loss to Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
Saturday, S2 gets another chance to add to its tally of home victories when Whitecaps FC 2 visits Starfire. The Rave Green have had varied results against the ‘Caps in 2015, with a 4-0 shutout at home to go with a draw and a loss on the road.
“We know this team very well,” said S2 Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson. “Obviously we think we deserved more in the last game, but overall think we played well and can get a result at home this weekend.”
Holding a draw into the last minutes in the previous meeting between the clubs, WFC 2 struck twice at the foot of Victor Blasco in the 89th and 90th minutes to secure the 3-1 victory at home. When the ‘Caps last travelled to Starfire, Darwin Jones netted his first professional hat trick, but since then has spent most of his time with the Sounders FC MLS side.
Pablo Rossi currently leads S2 with seven goals, while up-and-coming striker Oalex Anderson continues to make a name for himself with four goals in his rookie year with the Rave Green.
Forward Caleb Clarke leads Vancouver with six goals, followed by Victor Blasco and Marco Bustos who both have four.
Goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi has played nine matches for the ‘Caps and most recently appeared for the Whitecaps FC First Team in a Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage match against Sounders FC on Wednesday. University of Washington alumni Spencer Richey has also appeared in net for the visitors.
Tickets to Saturday’s match are available here, with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. PT.
