Seattle Sounders defender Roman Torres started for Panama on Thursday and went the full 90 minutes in a scoreless draw at Costa Rica on Matchday 5 of the Hexagonal in CONCACAF 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
Costa Rican defender Giancarlo Gonzalez was sent off in the 54th minute, but the Panamanians could not capitalize in the 35 minutes they played with a man advantage. Costa Rica stay in second place in the Hex with eight points, one point ahead of the United States, who defeated Joevin Jones and Trinidad and Tobago 2-0. Panama are in fourth with six points.
Torres and Panama will host Honduras on June 13, while Costa Rica will T&T.
