After being eliminated from Knockout Round contention following their loss to England on Sunday, Román Torres and Panama will wrap up their 2018 FIFA World Cup in the Group G finale against Tunisia on Thursday at 11 a.m. PT at Mordovia Arena in Saransk, Russia.
England and Belgium, who play each other on Thursday to determine the Group G winner, have already advanced, while Tunisia were also eliminated after Matchday 2. Playing in their first-ever World Cup, Panama scored their first World Cup goal in the second half against England, but have allowed nine in two matches so far. Tunisia have scored three times while conceding seven.
Tunisia took England to the death before a Harry Kane stoppage-time goal gave the Three Lions a 2-1 win on Matchday 1. Belgium were also too much for the Eagles of Carthage on Matchday 2, knocking off Tunisia 5-2 behind separate braces for Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard. Ferjani Sassi, Dylan Bronn and Wahbi Khazri have all found the back of the net for Tunisia.
Despite not being able to advance, Panama still have a chance to earn their first World Cup win. Tunisia are ranked No. 21 in the latest FIFA rankings, but lack the multitude of weapons that Panama faced in England and Belgium. Torres captained Los Canaleros and started their first two matches.
