RAGEN SUSPENDED: Sounders center back Jackson Ragen will miss Saturday’s match after his caution in the Sounders’ loss to Austin FC on July 22 earned him a yellow-card accumulation suspension. Ragen also missed Seattle’s match in Philadelphia last weekend after receiving a red card against Austin.
MLS ALL-STAR GAME: Ragen is the only player on either Seattle or Portland competing in the 2026 MLS All-Star Game in Charlotte on Wednesday. The nomination was the first for Ragen, who had previously been a finalist for the 2024 MLS Defender of the Year Award.

MORA MOVES ON: The Timbers will be without one of their top forwards, as Felipe Mora scored a brace in his final match with the club last weekend. The 32-year-old Chilean international spent nearly seven years with the Timbers, racking up 48 goals and 20 assists. He is reportedly set to join Liga MX’s Atlético San Luis.
NEW COACH BUMP: Since parting ways with Phil Neville during the 2026 FIFA World Cup break, the Timbers took seven points from three matches under Interim Manager Jack Cassidy, though new permanent hire Martà Cifuentes is poised to lead the team for the first time on Saturday. The 44-year-old Spaniard had previous stints at England’s Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers, as well as Sweden’s Hammarby IF.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Kristoffer Velde, F
With Mora gone and leading scorer Kelsy out with a foot and ankle injury he suffered against FC Dallas on July 22, the attacking impetus will fall on Velde. The Norwegian Designated Player has four goals and seven assists in 24 matches since joining Portland from Greek giants Olympiacos last summer.
