RENTON, Wash. – Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso has been named an inactive MLS All-Star, MLS announced today.
Earning his third All-Star selection in his five-year MLS career, Alonso, 27, has started all 12 of his appearances in 2013 and recorded an assist against Dallas on May 18. Alonso played 56 minutes in a 3-2 win over Chelsea in the 2012 MLS All-Star Game.
Each year, a minimum of 32 players are named All-Stars and today MLS announced the final 10: Donovan Ricketts (Portland Timbers), Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo), Jamison Olave (New York Red Bulls), George John (FC Dallas), Diego Valeri (Portland Timbers), Rodney Wallace (Portland Timbers), Osvaldo Alonso (Seattle Sounders FC), Juninho (LA Galaxy), Justin Mapp (Montreal Impact), Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake).
Sounders FC will host FC Dallas on Saturday evening. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field.
