Sounders FC defender Nouhou scored his first international goal for Cameroon this weekend in their World Cup Qualifying victory over Cape Verde.
In the 54th minute, Nouhou redirected Michael Ngadeu’s header toward the six-yard-box with a diving header of his own, putting Cameroon 4-1 up. He immediately ran to the crowd to celebrate, where he was met with an embrace from Cameroon supporters.
It has been a long time coming for Nouhou, who has been a part of the Cameroon national team since 2018, totaling 32 caps.
With the help of Nouhou’s assertiveness in the box, Cameroon’s dominant 4-1 victory over Cape Verde has left them as the current leaders in Group D of the Confederation of African Football with 7 points. If Cameroon maintains this standing at the end of the qualification process, they will secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in North America.
Nouhou and the Indomitable Lions will continue their path through World Cup Qualifying as they take on Angola on June 11.
