Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro subbed on in the 68th minute on Friday in Uruguay’s 4-1 friendly win over Mexico at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. He entered for good friend and Barcelona star Luis Suárez.

José Giménez opened the scoring for Uruguay in the 21st minute before Mexico’s Raúl Jiménez answered with a penalty kick four minutes later. Suárez then put La Celeste ahead for good with an eight-minute brace, scoring in the 32nd minute and burying a penalty in the 40th. Gastón Pereiro added the final tally in the 59th minute.

Lodeiro returns to Seattle looking to help extend the Sounders’ MLS-record winning streak to nine matches when they visit the rival Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
