The Rave Green will be looking fresh in 2015.
Ahead of this weekend’s home opener at CenturyLink Field, the Sounders debuted the 2015 primary and secondary jerseys at The NINETY, the club’s new event space in Pioneer Square. Ozzie Alonso, Lamar Neagle, Cristian Roldan and Aaron Kovar strutted their stuff and modeled for those in attendance.
The premiere of a reworked primary jersey showed that a good thing can always be improved upon.
The kit keeps the Sounders signature Rave Green color front and center and includes small nods to the supporters that flock to every match to cheer on the boys in green.
“The primary, to us, displays one thing that Seattle is really known for: rain,” said Mike Walker, Senior Product Manager at adidas as he addressed a crowd gathered at the evening event. “It’s got a little bit of detail there, but it’s still a very clean, very classy jersey, much like the organization itself.”
The biggest surprise of the night may have been the new secondary kit. Dubbed Olympic White, which recognizes the mountain range that’s visible from the team’s home turf, the clean design harkens to the days of the Sounders in NASL and USL action, when the club sported white. Walker also mentioned another tie to the organization’s base at CenturyLink Field.
“The secondary, Olympic White, is actually inspired by the stadium. If you go in and you’re watching the game, and you look up and see those wonderful rafters that are in there, and you see those big white lines that run through that – that’s what kind of guided the color,” he explained. “It is part of the design and the engineering of the fabric.
One thing is certain: the Starting XI is going to look picture-perfect as they hit the Xbox Pitch. Both primary and secondary jerseys are now available in all Sounders FC Pro Shop locations as well as online here.
