After missing one start to injury, Lamar Neagle is back in the starting lineup as Sounders FC takes on the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place.
VANCOUVER, B.C. – Late this week, Sounders FC head coach Sigi Schmid hinted that his lineup against the Vancouver Whitecaps would be different than the one he fielded against DC United on Wednesday.
Now the lineups are in at BC Place and we see just how many alterations Schmid made in his 400th MLS match as Seattle looks to continue to assert their dominance over Vancouver in MLS play.
Hopeful of having a combination of Osvaldo Alonso, Lamar Neagle and DeAndre Yedlin back for the match tonight, Schmid was only able to put Neagle in the lineup, starting him on the left side of midfield. Brad Evans started on the left on Wednesday, but moves to the right side on Saturday while Mauro Rosales moves to the bench. In the middle, Schmid opted for Shalrie Joseph and Servando Carrasco.
Up front, Obafemi Martins and Eddie Johnson will make their fifth start together while Seattle will keep the same defense from Wednesday night with a back four of Zach Scott, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Djimi Traore and Leo Gonzalez in front of goalkeeper Michael Gspurning.
On the bench for Seattle will be Marcus Hahnemann, Patrick Ianni, Marc Burch, Yedlin, Rosales, Andy Rose and David Estrada.
For Vancouver, head coach Martin Rennie has a lineup of Brad Knighton in goal; YP Lee, Brad Rusin, Johnny Leveron and Jordan Harvey on defense; a midfield of Nigel Reo-Coker, Jun Marques Davidson and Gershon Koffie; and forwards Corey Hertzog, Kenny Miller and Camilo Sanvezzo.
On the bench will be Joe Cannon, Matt Watson, Darren Mattocks, Daigo Kobayashi, Kekuta Manneh, Tommy Heinemann and Greg Klazura.
