Morris and Roldan called into U.S. Men's National Team for pair of friendlies

SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan have been called into the U.S. Men’s National Team, as Head Coach Gregg Berhalter has called up 26 players in advance of a pair of upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Uruguay. The 70th edition of USA-Mexico is set to take place on Friday, September 6 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (5:30 p.m. PT / FS1, Univision, TUDN). Four days later, the USMNT heads to Saint Louis to take on Uruguay on Tuesday, September 10 at Busch Stadium (5:00 p.m. PT / FS1, Univision, TUDN).


Morris has 33 career international caps and five goals for the USMNT, including five appearances and three starts most recently at the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Morris ranks second on Sounders FC with seven goals this season, in addition to a career-high five assists.


Roldan has 15 international caps since making his debut against Ghana in January of 2017, including four appearances at this summer’s Gold Cup. Roldan has four goals and three assists in 2019 for Seattle, while starting 23 of his 24 MLS appearances.


Additionally, Sounders FC forward Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez has been called up to the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team for the 4 Nations Tournament in the Netherlands from September 5-9. Head Coach Raphael Wicky’s squad will face Mexico, Netherlands and Denmark in final official international matches before the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil. Sounders FC Academy midfielder Ethan Dobbelaere has also been named to the 23-man roster.


Following a 2-1 Cascadia Cup-clinching win on Friday over archrival Portland Timbers, Sounders FC (12-8-7, 43 points) hosts the LA Galaxy (13-11-3, 42 points) on Sunday, September 1 at CenturyLink Field (3:30 p.m. PT / FS1, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
