Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei and defender Kim Kee-hee to the Week 22 Team of the Week for their performances in a pair of victories this week. On Wednesday, the Sounders earned a 1-0 win in San Jose, before topping New York City FC 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field. MLS also named Brian Schmetzer as the Team of the Week coach.
Kim played the full 90 minutes in both matches this week, beginning with a clean sheet in San Jose alongside Román Torres. On Sunday, Kim and Chad Marshall anchored a back line that held New York City FC, one of the top teams in the league, to just one goal. Frei's six-point week featured seven saves, including five in San Jose, and just one goal allowed.
The Sounders return to action on the road on Saturday, August 4 against Minnesota United (5:00 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
