Ahead of the 2018 Generation adidas Cup in Frisco, Texas, MLSSoccer.com included Seattle Sounders Academy product and S2 midfielder Ray Serrano on its 10 players to watch list. The 15-year-old Serrano signed with S2 in February, becoming the youngest player to ink a professional contract in club history.
The GA Cup is an annual MLS youth tournament for U-17 Academy teams wth competition against domestic and foreign competition. The young Sounders will compete against the New England Revolution, Columbus Crew SC and Japan’s Matsumoto Yamaga.
Serrano also recently returned from United States U-17 national team camp along with teammate Josh Atencio. Serrano made his pro debut last Friday night when he entered as a second-half substitute in S2’s season-opening win over Portland Timbers 2 at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
The young Sounders will take on Matsumoto Yamaga in the GA Cup opener at 10 a.m. PT on Friday. A live stream of this match will be available on the Sounders' YouTube channel.
