Midfielder Nick Hinds has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 1 of the 2018 campaign after recording a goal in S2’s 2-1 season-opening win last Friday against Portland Timbers 2 at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
Hinds, 20, scored the game-winning goal just before halftime, combining with midfielder David Olsen for a slick finish in the area. He played 65 minutes after signing an S2 contract in January following two successful seasons at the University of Akron.
“I just tried my best to help my team out,” Hinds said following the match. “Perfect finish, good setup by David. Everything was the way we wanted, so I just have to thank my teammates for giving me the opportunity to trust me and put it away.”
A Florida native, Hinds is a product of the Homestay program, which connects out-of-region players with families in the Seattle area to come be part of the club’s academy. A converted fullback, Hinds has settled into an attacking midfield role with S2.
