KANSAS CITY, MO – Seattle Sounders FC 2 fell to Swope Park Rangers 2-0 in their final match of 2016 after going down to 10-men in the 41st minute. Defender Nouhou Tolo was having a productive night until a Rangers break away forced him to foul the attacker from behind and draw the straight red card. The foul was ruled to have happened outside the area and no penalty was given.
Rangers opened in the scoring in the 12th minute when defender Amer Didic got his head to a back post corner and smashed it passed goalkeeper Charlie Lyon. Swope then capped off their night with a second goal in 75th minute. USL all-time leading scorer Dane Kelly created the chance when he won the ball at the edge of the S2 area and drove it across the box to forward Tyler Pasher who finished it off.
S2 will finish the USL regular season with 35 points and will miss the playoffs for the first time since the club was founded in 2014. Sounders Academy product Milo Barton made his S2 debut in the match up top at center forward in the absence of forwards Victor Mansaray, Darwin Jones and Irvin Parra.
S2 will continue to train through October and begin offseason preparations in Seattle.
