Man of the Match: Chad Barrett was a workhorse all afternoon for Seattle. Making his second consecutive start, but his first at forward, Barrett was a nuisance to the Salt Lake defense with his never-ending effort. That he added a goal in the 62nd minute to put the game away was icing on the cake, as he now has three goals in just
Telling Stat: 254. Sounders FC has a five-match home winning streak thanks in large part to a streak of 254 consecutive shutout minutes at CenturyLink Field. Stefan Frei has had a different defensive unit in front of him in all three matches during that shutout streak and has seen limited shots on target over that time because of a stingy defense that has truly made a fortress of Seattle's home stadium.
What You Missed: Just before Pappa scored, Brad Evans run up from his defensive position to offer a quick direction to the players standing over the ball, curling his hand toward the well to show a path for free kick. Pappa's shot followed the exact path directed by Evans and then celebrated his first goal in Rave Green.
So What: For the second time in three years, Sounders FC halted a lengthy streak for Real Salt Lake. In 2009, it was a 29-match home unbeaten streak and this time it was a 12-match unbeaten run to start the season. Now Seattle will head to the road against the Chicago for the first of three consecutive road matches. Sounders FC now holds a five-match home winning streak, but won't play at home again until July 13 when it faces the Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field.
