Score: Sounders FC 2 vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2
Site: BC Place
Records: Sounders FC (8-3-2, 26 points); Whitecaps FC (4-2-5, 17 points)
Man of the Match: Gonzalo Pineda made his first goal for Sounders FC count and was a pivotal figure in the midfield for Seattle, helping slow the Vancouver pace when needed and connecting balls to keep possession. His 82nd minute goal off a penalty – his first for the Rave Green– also evened things up to give Seattle yet another result with a goal after the 80th minute.
Telling Stat: Vancouver took eight shots over the match's first 10 minutes before Seattle had its first attempt. Sounders FC withstood the pressure. However, that ratio didn't improve by much over the rest of the match as the Whitecaps finished with a 24-8 edge and Stefan Frei had two stoppage-time saves to preserve the draw for the visitors.
What You Missed: Saturday's match marked the 200th MLS appearance in the career of Kenny Cooper. He celebrated the occasion with his 18th career assist and second with Sounders FC.
So What: Sounders FC returns to CenturyLink Field for the final time before the World Cup break next week against Real Salt Lake. After facing RSL, Seattle won't play at home again until July 13 against the Portland Timbers.
