The votes are in and Sounders FC forward Obafemi Martins has won the 2014 AT&T MLS Goal of the Year with a resounding 51.82% of the ballots submitted.
His strike against the San Jose Earthquakes in Week 11 of the season will go down as one of the club's greatest goals and for good reason. Collecting the ball from a Gonzalo Pineda over-the-top through ball, Martins, who was being driven away from goal by Earthquakes defender Jordan Stewart, tried the audacious chip with his left foot from in tight, across the face of the goal and into the side-netting. The strike left goalkeeper Jon Busch absolutely dumbfounded.
Up against Will Johnson's volley, Thierry Henry's blast and Lee Nguyen's impressive finish, Martins was the overwhelming winner with no other nominee getting more than 30% of the vote.
To bring you back to the moment...here's my goal call from @LIVESounders.
