The Sounders midfielder continues to be a staple in the Honduran national team.
RENTON, Wash. - Sounders FC midfielder Mario Martinez has been called in by Honduras for three World Cup Qualifiers from June 7-18.
Martinez, 23, joins Honduras for qualifiers against Costa Rica on June 7, Jamaica on June 11, and the United States on June 18 in Sandy, Utah. Martinez will miss Saturday's match versus the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Martinez has five starts in nine appearances for Sounders FC this season, logging 470 minutes and recording his first career MLS assist. He has 29 caps and three goals for Honduras in international play.
Seattle hosts Vancouver on Saturday, June 8. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field.
