Lionel Messi is healthy again, and that’s good news for soccer fans in Seattle.
Argentina head coach Gerardo Martino told reporters on Thursday that the world’s reigning Player of the Year will play when Argentina take on Panama in Chicago, Messi’s first action in this summer’s Copa America Centenario.
“Leo trained with the group normally,” Martino told reporters on Thursday in Chicago. “There is nothing unusual, and he will play tomorrow.”
Messi missed Argentina’s 2-1 win against Chile on Monday due to a back injury sustained in a pre-Copa friendly against Honduras on May 27.
Messi and Argentina will take on Bolivia at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on June 14 in the final match of group play in Group D. Messi played in Seattle in 2009 when Barcelona played an international friendly against the Seattle Sounders, but he’s never appeared in the Emerald City with Argentina.
Messi and Argentina are expected to arrive in Seattle this weekend ahead of their match on Tuesday.
