FRISCO, Texas – Sounders FC defender Zach Scott will play his 300th match for Seattle when things kick off from Toyota Stadium between Seattle and FC Dallas. The former USL Sounder began his pro career in 2002 after an open tryout and has logged more matches than anyone in the 40 years since the Seattle Sounders first played in the North American Soccer League in 1974.
Scott is making his 14th start of the season and Seattle is 8-4-1 in those starts. On Wednesday, he will start alongside Chad Marshall at center back, flanked by DeAndre Yedlin on the right and Leo Gonzalez on the left. Stefan Frei will start at goalkeeper as Sounders FC looks to sweep the season series against FC Dallas and end the Hoops’ six-game home winning streak.
In the midfield, Brad Evans will start on the right with Marco Pappa on the left and a central pair of Osvaldo Alonso and Andy Rose, marking the first time that foursome has started together.
At forward, Clint Dempsey returns to the site where he scored two goals and forced an own goal for a 3-2 comeback victory in April. He will start alongside Obafemi Martins, who is the club’s single-season record-holder with 35 points on 13 goals and nine assists. Dempsey isn’t far behind with 12 goals and seven assists. In the last six matches, the duo has combined for eight goals and six assists, with one or the other registering a goal or assist in all six matches.
