CARSON, Calif. – Sounders FC forward Clint Demspey leads Major League Soccer with six goals in four matches and Obafemi Martins leads the league with four assists in six matches. That duo will look to add to their totals on Saturday against a Chivas USA defense that has allowed the most goals in MLS so far this season.
Martins and Dempsey will start at forward as Seattle Head Coach Sigi Schmid keeps to the same formation that topped FC Dallas 3-2 last week, though there is one switch in the midfield, as Marco Pappa will start in place of Kenny Cooper.
The midfield will consist of Pappa and Lamar Neagle on the outside and a central pairing of Osvaldo Alonso and Gonzalo Pineda. Though Brad Evans was back in training this week after missing the last four matches with a calf injury, he will serve in a reserve role on Saturday.
On defense, Schmid will use the same back four in front of Stefan Frei for the second straight week, with DeAndre Yedlin at right back, Leo Gonzalez at left back with Chad Marshall and Djimi Traore in the middle.
On the bench for Seattle will be Marcus Hahnemann, Zach Scott, Dylan Remick, Evans, Micheal Azira, Cooper and Chad Barrett.
Sounders FC starters: Frei, Yedlin, Marshall, Traore, Gonzalez, Pappa, Alonso, Pineda, Neagle, Martins, Demspey.
