SEATTLE, WASH. - Two additional Sounders FC players have been called into international duty for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, with Oniel Fisher and Jordy Delem joining Jamaica and Martinique, respectively. The pair join U.S. Men's National Team call-ups Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan as CONCACAF announced today the final 23-player rosters submitted by the 12 participating member associations for this summer's marquee Confederation championship. Both Fisher and Delem recently completed participation the 2017 Caribbean Cup in Martinique.
Fisher, 25, has six career caps for the Jamaican National Team, including five so far in 2017. The University of Mexico product recently played in both the semifinal and final rounds of the 2017 Caribbean Cup, with Reggae Boyz finishing second to Curaçao. The Portmore native has started six of his eight appearances this season and 17 of his 26 career MLS games played since Seattle selected him in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
Delem, 24, has 34 appearances for Martinique and also appeared in both matches - the semifinal and third-place playoff - in the 2017 Caribbean Cup, which Martinique hosted. The Fort-de-France native has 10 appearances and one assist for Sounders FC this season, following a standout season for Sounders FC 2 in 2016.
In accordance with the Competition Regulations, injury-related changes are allowed to the final 23-player rosters for the Group Stage until 24 hours before each team's first match. Any injury replacements must come from the announced preliminary 40-player rosters and must be approved by the Gold Cup Medical Committee.
As in past years, teams that qualify for the quarterfinals of this year's Gold Cup are permitted to amend their 23-player roster following the group stage, by replacing up to six players with new players from the 40-player provisional rosters announced on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
After a 2-1 midweek road loss to San Jose in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fifth Round, Sounders FC returns to MLS play on Tuesday, July 4 against the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6:00 p.m. PT / Q13 FOX, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM).
