The U-18 Academy topped the Galaxy 5-0 while the U-16s fell 3-0 to the Galaxy on the road.
The Sounders FC U-18 Academy team has a lot of firepower that had been sitting on the brink of a big-scoring day. Saturday, that day came as Darwin Jones had a hat trick and the U-18s topped the LA Galaxy U-18s 5-0 for their first win.
Brandon Brockway led the defense in the shutout, their second in four matches.
Jones put the Sounders up early, scoring on an Aaron Kovar for the first of three first-half goals for Jones.
Jamal Cox scored on a Sean Okoli through ball in the 25th minute for the 2-0 lead, then Jones took over again before the halftime whistle. Kovar set up another goal for Jones in the 35th minute and Chase Hanson was given the assist in the 42nd minute when Jones finished off the hat trick.
Seattle played add-on in the second half with a solid header from Drew White off of a Cox corner kick for the final goal in the 5-0 victory.
The U-16 Academy side did not have the same success though, falling 3-0 to the Galaxy U-16s. LA got goals in the 32nd, 44th and 71st minutes, although Connor Adkisson did have a solid day with several point-blank saves in the losing effort.
Sunday morning the Sounders FC Academy teams will finish off the Los Angeles road trip with matches against the Chivas USA Academy.
