Following the team’s 2-0 win over St. Louis CITY SC on Wednesday night at Lumen Field, Seattle Sounders defender Jonathan Bell was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 27.
This is Bell’s first time being selected for the league’s weekly honors.
The Sounders had a 1-0 lead heading into the second half, but it was Bell’s goal in the 49th minute that allowed the team to take full control of the match. An Albert Rusnák free kick from the right flank found Bell’s head near the back post for him to redirect into the back of the net for his first goal as a Seattle Sounder.
Additionally, Bell completed 88 of his 96 pass attempts, won five duels, and recorded eight recoveries.
The Sounders return to action on Saturday with a marquee matchup against Western Conference leaders LAFC (7:30 p.m. PT; MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS) at Lumen Field.
