SEATTLE, WASH. - Forward Irvin Parra has been named the USL Player of the Week for Week 11 after leading Sounders FC 2 (5-5-2, 17 points) to a 3-0 victory over LA Galaxy II at Starfire Stadium on Saturday evening. It is the first such honor for S2 this season, although forward Felix Chenkam and defender Nouhou Tolo previously earned USL Team of the Week honors. After Saturday’s brace, Parra now leads S2 with five goals in the 2017 USL campaign.
Parra, 23, signed with S2 last August after spending the previous six seasons in Germany, where he played for Kaiserslautern II, Zweibrücken and Homburg. Born in Inglewood, California, Parra played youth soccer with the Pateadores U-18 Development Academy squad, which won the 2010-2011 Development Academy National Championship.
Tuesday’s edition of the USL Team the Week also featured S2 midfielder Ray Saari as a reserve. The University of Tulsa product notched a goal and an assist in Saturday’s contest. Saari, who has played every minute of the season so far, ranks first on the team with six assists.
