By thwarting Robbie Keane throughout Seattle's 1-1 draw with the LA Galaxy, Hurtado was recognized by MLSsoccer.com.
For the second time in the last four weeks, Sounders FC defender Jhon Kennedy Hurtado was named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week.
Last time around, it was for a standout defensive performance as Seattle held on to an early 1-0 lead while playing down a man to oust the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium. This time, he was faced with the unenviable task of stalling the MVP-caliber season of LA’s Robbie Keane, who has 13 goals and 11 assists in 18 matches.
Hurtado led the charge for a defense that held Keane without a shot in the match, limiting LA’s scoring chances to a well-placed free kick.
The Seattle defender was joined on Team of the Week by goalkeeper David Ousted (Vancouver Whitecaps FC); defenders Jamison Olave (New York Red Bulls and Shane O’Neill (Colorado Rapids); midfielders Marcelo Sarvas (LA Galaxy), Tony Tchani (Columbus Crew), Diego Valeri (Portland Timbers) and Nigel Reo-Coker (Vancouver Whitecaps FC); and forwards Steven Lenhart (San Jose Earthquakes), Giles Barnes (Houston Dynamo) and Camilo (Vancouver Whitecaps).
It was Hurtado’s second appearance of the season on the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week.
