Seattle Sounders forwards Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris will start for the United States men’s national team on Tuesday against Honduras on Matchday 8 of the Hexagonal in CONCACAF 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying at Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. PT on beIN SPORTS.
Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan is one of two players not on the matchday roster.
The U.S. fell 2-0 to Costa Rica at home last Friday and are tied for fourth with Honduras in the Hexagonal with eight points from seven matches entering Tuesday.
Dempsey has 57 career U.S. goals and is tied with Landon Donovan for the all-time U.S. men’s record. Dempsey enters with 18 goals in 40 career World Cup Qualifying appearances, the most WCQ tallies in U.S. men’s history. He has four goals in four games in this WCQ cycle, including a hat trick against Honduras in a 6-0 win back in March.
Morris has five goals in 22 career caps, including the game-winning goal in July’s Gold Cup Final. He has three WCQ appearances.
Roldan made his U.S. debut during the group stage at the Gold Cup and has earned his second consecutive call-up to Head Coach Bruce Arena’s team.
