The Seattle Sounders defeated Chivas 1-0 last week at CenturyLink Field in the first quarterfinal leg of CONCACAF Champions League. Now the Sounders battle Chivas in Guadalajara on Wednesday (7 p.m. PT; go90.com, Univision Deportes, 950 KJR AM) looking to make it three Major League Soccer teams in the semifinals for the first time ever after the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC advanced on Tuesday.
The Sounders can reach the semifinals if:
- they defeat Chivas by any margin
— OR —
- they draw with Chivas
— OR —
- they score and lose by one goal (e.g. 2-1, 3-2 and so on) because of the away goals tiebreaker
— OR —
- they lose 1-0 but defeat Chivas in penalty kicks, which occurs at the end of regulation if the aggregate score and away goals are tied. There is no extra time.
