2025 was a jam-packed season for the Seattle Sounders, filled with excitement, new opportunities and regional glory.
With 50 matches played across all competitions, there were plenty of magical moments from this past season. Here are four takeaways from an unforgettable year.
1. Completed the Set
On Aug. 31, the Sounders collected their first-ever Leagues Cup title following a dominant 3-0 performance over Eastern Conference powerhouse Inter Miami.
It was a significant day in more ways than one. Not only did the team collect their seventh trophy in modern club history, they completed the North America trophy case after winning two MLS Cups, a Concacaf Champions Cup, four U.S. Open Cups and a Supportersā Shield in years prior. The Sounders are the only MLS club to achieve such a feat.
Additionally, the championship match broke Lumen Fieldās attendance record for a sporting event. The 69,314 fans surpassed the stadiumās previous record of 69, 274 from the Soundersā MLS Cup Final match in 2019.
2. FIFA Club World Cup
Throughout the month of June, the Seattle Sounders participated in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, under its revamped format that mirrored the World Cup structure that includes a group stage.
One of three MLS teams to compete in the world-renowned tournament, the Rave Green squared up against 2024 Copa Libertadores winners Botafogo, reigning UEFA Champions League winners PSG and Spain powerhouse Atletico de Madrid in the group stage of the competition.
It was an exciting period to compete against these international giants at home and represent Seattle as a soccer city. Their strong performances on the pitch showed they can compete against the best-of-the best, with a series of closely-contested matches that proved the Rave Green belong on the world stage.
3. Individual Accolades
Individual achievements were a common theme for the Sounders in 2025.
Winger Pedro de la Vegaās stellar showing in Leagues Cup earned him Player of the Tournament honors. His most memorable moment came in the Sounders' 7-0 victory over 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup winners Cruz Azul, when the winger rocketed a once-and-a-lifetime volley off a cross-field pass that arrowed into the top corner. de la Vegaās golazo earned the Argentine a spot on the shortlist for the 2025 Puskas Award that highlights the top 40 goals from around the world.
Andrew Thomas also stood out in Leagues Cup, securing the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award following the Soundersā win over Inter Miami. The shot-stopper had four shutouts throughout the competition, including the teamās 3-0 victory in the Final.
Despite facing lingering injuries throughout the course of the 2025 season, forward Jordan Morris made club history after passing Sounders legend RaĆŗl RuidĆaz as the Rave Greenās all-time leading scorer. On March 8, the Mercer Island native scored his 87th goal in the teamās 5-2 victory over LAFC, solidifying his place in the No.1 spot.
Midfielder Cristian Roldan was the underlying key to the Soundersā success in 2025, serving as a double pivot alongside Obed Vargas. Roldanās stellar performances earned him a spot on Major League Soccerās 2025 Best XI, as well as several call-ups to the U.S. Menās National Team ahead of next yearās FIFA World Cup.
Vargas was equally as impressive in the midfield. The Homegrown Player was selected for the No.1 position in the 2025 22 under 22 rankings ā the leagueās annual list of the top young players in MLS. He was also selected as the lone Sounder to compete in the MLS All-Star match and the skills challenge held at Q2 Stadium back in July.
4. Team Success
In addition to individual success, the team surpassed major milestones in 2025. The Sounders had their strongest offensive showing in club history this season, scoring more goals across all competitions (87) than any other year. The group also racked up 58 goals and 73 assists in league play, passing the clubās highest goal contribution record of 130 that was set in 2014.
Following the the FIFA Club World Cup, the Rave Green only had one loss in 15 matches. During that stretch, the Sounders lifted the 2025 Leagues Cup trophy and notched 36 goals against some of the top clubs in North America.
